Spend the Perfect Day at Old York Cellars

Spend the Perfect Day at Old York Cellars & Explore Hunterdon Wine Country

Some guests come to Old York Cellars for a wine tasting. Others come for lunch, dinner, live music, a wine pairing experience, or simply to relax with a glass of wine overlooking the vineyard.

But one of the best things about visiting Old York Cellars is our location in the heart of Hunterdon Wine Country. Your visit doesn’t have to begin—or end—at the winery. Historic river towns, scenic railroads, locally owned restaurants, artisan shops, and beautiful country roads are all just minutes away, making it easy to turn your visit into a full day—or even a weekend—of exploring one of New Jersey’s most beautiful regions.

Here’s one of our favorite ways to spend the day.

Start Your Morning with Breakfast

Before making your way to the winery, begin your day with breakfast at one of Hunterdon County’s local favorites.

If you’re coming through Ringoes, stop at Mom’s Restaurant, known for its hearty breakfasts and welcoming atmosphere.

Approaching from the Delaware River? Liv & Charlie’s…Real Food in Lambertville is the perfect place to enjoy fresh coffee, breakfast sandwiches, and locally inspired fare before exploring the town.

Spend the Afternoon at Old York Cellars

From breakfast, make your way to Old York Cellars, where you can spend as much—or as little—time as you’d like.

Enjoy a guided wine tasting, share a bottle over lunch, experience one of our chef-crafted wine pairing experiences, or simply relax with a glass of wine while taking in views of the vineyard and the Sourland Mountains.

Depending on when you visit, you may catch live music, reserve a vineyard cabana, enjoy one of our seasonal events, or simply spend a few hours reconnecting with family and friends.

At Old York Cellars, we believe great wine is just the beginning. We strive to create experiences that bring together wine, food, people, and place.

Ride the Rails Through Hunterdon County

One of the region’s most memorable attractions is the Black River & Western Railroad, where beautifully restored historic trains travel through the rolling countryside between Flemington and Ringoes.

If you’re planning your visit, check the schedule for the Hunterdon Wine Express, one of our favorite collaborations. Guests enjoy a scenic ride aboard the historic railroad before arriving at Old York Cellars for a guided wine tasting and chef-crafted lunch. It’s a uniquely Hunterdon County experience that combines local history, beautiful scenery, and award-winning wines.

Even if the Hunterdon Wine Express isn’t running during your visit, a ride on the Black River & Western Railroad is a wonderful way to experience the countryside.

Explore Lambertville & New Hope

Just a short drive from the winery, Lambertville and New Hope offer one of the most enjoyable afternoons in the region.

Browse independent boutiques, art galleries, antique shops, bookstores, and cafés before taking the short walk across the historic Delaware River Bridge into New Hope, Pennsylvania. Few destinations let you experience two vibrant downtowns with such an easy stroll.

While you’re in Lambertville, stop into the Tomasello Winery Tasting Room to enjoy another taste of New Jersey wine before continuing your walk-through town.

Discover Downtown Flemington

If your plans take you east, spend some time exploring Downtown Flemington, where historic architecture and an exciting collection of locally owned businesses are bringing new life to Main Street.

Be sure to visit Mr. Pops Artisan Chocolates for handcrafted chocolates that make the perfect gift—or the perfect pairing with a bottle of wine to enjoy later.

With new shops, restaurants, and businesses continuing to open, Flemington has become another destination worth exploring during your visit to Hunterdon County.

Continue the Experience Over Dinner

Not ready for the day to end?

Hunterdon County is home to many outstanding BYO restaurants, making it easy to continue enjoying your favorite bottle from Old York Cellars over dinner. Pick up a bottle before leaving the winery and pair it with everything from an elegant dinner to a casual neighborhood favorite.

Or head over to Luna Pizza, where you can enjoy one of your favorite Old York Cellars wines alongside a great pizza. Sometimes the best ending to a day in wine country is also the simplest.

Turn Your Day Trip into a Weekend

Why squeeze everything into one day?

Stay overnight at Lambertville Station Inn, where you’ll be within walking distance of Lambertville’s restaurants, shops, and the bridge to New Hope.

Or plan a future visit around the reopening of the historic Union Hotel in downtown Flemington, which is expected to become another exciting destination for visitors exploring Hunterdon County.

A weekend gives you more time to discover the wineries, towns, restaurants, shops, and attractions that make Hunterdon Wine Country such a special place.

Your Hunterdon Wine Country Adventure Starts Here

One of the things we love most about Hunterdon Wine Country is that no two visits are ever quite the same. One trip might revolve around a leisurely afternoon at the winery. Another might include a scenic train ride, a walk through the river towns, shopping in Flemington, or dinner at one of the area’s many BYO restaurants.

At Old York Cellars, we’re proud to be part of a community filled with independent businesses, welcoming towns, and memorable experiences. We invite you to make us the centerpiece of your visit, then take some time to discover everything else Hunterdon Wine Country has to offer.

After all, the best wine country experiences aren’t measured by the number of glasses you enjoy—they’re measured by the memories you make along the way.
