OISEAUX VIGILANTS: An Suburban Fairytale
Old York Cellars is pleased to present a solo exhibition of contemporary photography by New Jersey native Wendy Erickson. The show features photographs from the portfolio Oiseaux Vigilants.
In this body of work Erickson weaves a suburban fairytale in a series of beautifully crafted photographs. These images tell the story of a girl and her interaction with the birds that reside on hand-painted wallpaper in an old North Jersey house. "Dazzling and dramatic, they wait until the sun goes down to fly from their precarious roosts. The birds in this story venture through the abandoned rooms and cavort with objects from the past," says Erickson. "Playful at times, they are always watching."
